Los Angeles-based Sweetgreen partnered with UrbanLab to help open a restaurant in Chicago’s downtown Loop. UrbanLab worked with Sweetgreen to realize their vision of creating a destination for simple, seasonal, healthy food, which is made from scratch for a community of people who support real nourishment. UrbanLab collaborated with Sweetgreen’s remote design and engineering team to help develop an effective construction strategy in Chicago that incorporates both a consistent retail vision and a cohesive brand. Sweetgreen has developed a unique aesthetic that reflects their commitment to the environment. The restaurant not only serves plants but also grows them right next to the guests. A large planter doubles as a privacy screen within a dense space packed with people. Natural wood on the tables, walls and ceiling add to the shop’s soft, bright and organic appearance.
