The 150,000 sf (14,500 sm) Deublin Precision Rotating Union Company (Asia Division), located in the Enterprise Zone of Dalian, China, includes research labs, offices, conference facilities, and manufacturing spaces to make components for wind turbines and other engineering componentry related to energy performance and efficiency. Our design solution expresses each building component (structure, mechanical system, etc.) equally to efficiently balance and flexibly integrate operations, and to celebrate the complex process of producing Deublin products. The high bay manufacturing hall is designed to flexibly accommodate multi-dimensional robotic machinery used to make parts for rotating unions and rotary joints. A “floating” roof ties diverse spaces together. The site plan takes advantage of views of an adjacent public park and surrounding mountains. Several interior spaces visually connect to the exterior gardens surrounding the facility.
