| Canal Street Development Chicago, IL The urban design proposal investigated maximum possible residential and light commercial densities (via planned unit development) for a still undeveloped site in the East Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. Three existing landmark buildings frame the site to the south and west; the existing buildings housed a water bottling plant and an underground clean water aquifer still exists dormant under the site. The high density proposal promotes new development in this area of the city with close proximity to transit, mixed use housing/commercial/office spaces, and pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly design. phase: Urban Design Investigated, 2002 |
